Today is our little girl's first birthday. I can't believe it has gone by so fast. I feel like she should still be a newborn. This year has been so full of joy all brought by our Evey. We love who she is and who we see her becoming. She loves people, loves babies, loves giving kisses. She has the most beautiful smile that just makes your heart leap. She is curious and intelligent, and she loves activity. Happy Birthday, Evelyn!
We had a Korean celebration this past Saturday.
Immediately after we had our friends over to celebrate with us. What a fun day. I don't think I've ever seen her more happy!
Lately some of the biggest changes we see in Evey have to do with her hightened sense of curiosity. She wants to investigate everything, sometimes getting herself into potentially dangerous situations. But I love seeing her learn each time she tries something new :)
Our little reader! I think Daddy is trying to teach her a love for the Sports page early on...
We got her a toddler carseat which has been sitting in our family room waiting to get installed. The other day we found her like this playing with the blinds...yikes!
Evey loves pulling things out of their places. This morning she had fun banging the bowls together.
On Monday we started our first ever swim lessons for Evey! The city of long beach does Mommy/Daddy and Me classes so we're taking advantage. I don't know how much they'll actually teach her but it sure is fun. Stay tuned for more pics, it's Daddy's turn on Wednesday:)
Last Friday my cousin, Alicia, and I did a day of work with Habitat for Humanity. I was awesome! We didn't work on building a new house but instead helped fix up an old one that is owned by a woman in south L.A. It was a great experience and I totally want to do it again!!
Yesterday Evelyn turned 9 months old! It has gone by so fast and she has changed so much. This month has brought so many new things:
Pulling herself up to standing Standing on her own (for over 30 seconds!!) Tooth number 5 Walking with help LOVES books :) No longer content to lay still for a diaper change (which makes it very interesting for Mommy!) Her first cold (on the day she turned 9 months)
Today Andy had a holiday from work (thanks to Lincoln's Birthday). We started out the day having a great homemade breakfast of eggs, french toast, and bacon with our friend Dave Sandler. We were so blessed by Andy's skills in the kitchen :)
Then our friend Scott Hall came over with his twins, Lucy and Tyler. They are two days older than Evelyn so it's fun getting together with them and swapping stories. Lucy is such a crack up and Tyler is so adventurous and on the go. All of us then hooked up with Jane Ann and Isaiah and went down to the harbor in Long Beach. We walked around and enjoyed the beautiful day.
After we said goodbye to the Halls, we went to the Aquarium of the Pacific. It's so fun to see Evey taking everything in. Even at this age she is very interested in the fish. So fun!
So another month has gone by without a post. But this time we have an excuse. With Christmas and New Years our schedule has definitely been full.
Evey's first Christmas and New Year celebrations Trip to San Jose Two new teeth (total of 4) "Gagagaga" Lots of time spent with Daddy since Mommy's back was hurt Starting to crawl (well scooting on her belly) Practicing standing
We had our 8 month doctors visit today. Evey is 17 pounds 10 ounces (40th percentile) and 26 inches (25th percentile). However, as she usually is, she was squirmy when they tried to measure her height.
