On Sunday we reached another milestone...exactly 4 months away from our due date. Over the last week we've noticed significant changes in the belly. Here is a picture...

Little Evelyn's Korean name...
We are currently in the process of choosing a Korean name for little Evey that we will use as her legal middle name. As I was doing some research I found some information that may be interesting to our friends and family that aren't familiar with Korean culture...

A Korean Baby Name
Customs in Korea vary considerably from the Western culture when naming a baby. A Korean name is only ever repeated by complete accident. The majority of given Korean name's are unique. Chinese-based name's became the norm among upper and middle classes in Korea during the Go-Ryu dynasty.
Korean Names - their order
The order of Korean name's is presented in the reverse to the Western format. A Korean name would therefore be transcribed in the following order: surname, given name. There are often errors in transcriptions when the characters of the given name are written separately. Some Korean-Americans have adopted a Western name however they use their Korean one as a middle name.
Given Names
There are thousands of Korean characters and the given name usually consists of two syllables taken from any of the thousands of these characters. The range of name's is therefore almost limitless. Naming traditions in Korea can include and represent all forms of nature and the environment or characteristics or even have mystical meanings. Many will reflect a specific period in history. The Western custom of naming a baby after another close member of the family would be unheard of as a custom or tradition in the Korean culture.

The given name in Korea is rarely used within the close-knit family circle. In Western culture children rarely address their parents by their given name - they are referred to as " Mom" or "Dad". This custom is also adhered to in Korea but the custom extends to the whole family. In a family of three brothers their siblings would use the address of 'second brother' for instance. In turn the parents of Korean children often give then a unique nickname within the family. Outside the family circle the nickname would not be normally used.

Crazy weather!
Well, I know we don't have much to complain about here in CA, but it has been darn cold! We started last week at over 80 degrees and in a span of three days the daytime high dropped to 50. We've even had three nights here in Long Beach that got down to just above 30 degrees! Not good when you have a 90 year old house with bad insulation.
With all the weather changes, I have come down with a nasty cold. I spent the three day weekend in bed and haven't felt much better while at work this week. And the bummer is that us poor sick pregnant women can't take any cold medicine to find some relief. And when does the whole elevated body temperature kick in? I'm still freezing...
Well, despite the weather and miserable nose and throat, this has been an excellent time of the year for us. Little Evey has started making her presence more known. She's kicking away now and is definitely growing every day. Just in the last few she's popped herself out in front of me more. Big changes as we come upon our 5 month marker (in just 4 days!). The time has flown by, as I'm sure the last four months will, too.

Week 20...It's a girl!!!
This week has been very eventful for us. On Sunday December 31st, we hit 20 weeks of being pregnant. Here's a pic from January 2nd of my belly :)
We also had a doctor's appointment on the 3rd. And guess what...it's a GIRL!!! We got lots of pictures of different body parts of little Evelyn Lee (middle name to come soon). The doctor counted 10 toes and fingers and she told us all her organs look great:)
The top is a nice picture of her spine and mid section (she's faced down with arms, legs and head out of the shot). The lower picture shows her arms bent and crossed in front of her body.
The next two show her upper body but she has her arms and hands in front of her head.

We love our Life Group!
Pretty much every Tuesday for the last year we have been going over to the Huttons' house for Life Group. Although we're sometimes a little too silly for our own good, and we don't always accomplish what we're supposed to ;), we always have a great time enjoying life together.

Week 15
I'm in the middle of my 15th week of pregnancy! Here's what the baby's doing:
Week 15
You are 15 weeks pregnant and your baby weighs around 2.47 ounces, or 70 grams. Baby's tiny heart is now pumping about 25 quarts of blood a day. And the skin that has developed is so thin, one could see through it to the blood vessels inside! By birth, baby's heart will be pumping around 300 quarts of blood a day!
Baby's hair growth continues this week both on the head and the eyebrows. If your baby is going to have dark hair, hair follicles can start to make the pigment that will color baby's hair. Baby's ears are nearly in position by now, however they are still sitting a bit low on the head. Inside, the bone and marrow in the skeletal system are continuing to develop. As well, muscle development continues. In fact, your baby may even be able to make a fist and bend his or her arms at the elbows and wrists!

time has gone by...
Well, it's been a few months since I've posted anything on this site. I'm not sure how many people even check this. But I'll leave an update anyway.
In the last couple of months, Andy and I have been doing pretty well. Both of us continue to work at our respective schools which keeps us pretty busy. Andy also coached wrestling at his school. The season ended a few weeks ago with his team placing third in the league. Pretty good:)
Not much else has been going on. My mom and stepdad came down to visit for a weekend after they took a cruise to Mexico. That was pretty cool. Other than that we're just layin low. I'll try to update this more frequently so there wilbe more fresh info on us. See ya!

Holidays...
Well, football season is now over and we've moved into a lighter and less hectic schedule, even with the holidays. Andy had a great run with Compton College Football over the last two years but has decided to return to highschool football. We are both really excited to have more time to spend with each other and our friends, while still enjoying the game.
As for the rest of our life right now, I just got out of school for the holidays and Andy will start his break on the 23rd. We're looking forward to spending time in SJ and then celebrating New Years with his mom. We're also having our annual New Years Eve party which will be a lot of fun. And then we'll see how God is going to bless 2006!

I just noticed that the only thing we've been posting has been football related. This isn't really supposed to be all about football so I'll try to be better about including our other life stuff as well. Although, during the season football IS pretty much our life!

Compton vs. Ventura
On Saturday, in similar fashion as USC, Compton College football had an amazing win over Ventura. With seven seconds to go, down by three points, we scored an amazing touchdown that caused everyone to rush the field (even though we were at their place). It was great!
